Vincent English
Vincent English, President & Co-founder
Vincent English is a foreman for Boston Pipefitters Local 537 with over 20 years of experience. He holds a Journeymen license and has led some of the Boston area’s largest construction projects including those at MIT, Harvard, and Fenway Park.
After the tragic death of his younger brother, Michael, in 2017, Vincent started his journey of recovery from alcohol use disorder. Since achieving sobriety, Vincent has challenged himself to make The Michael English House, Inc. a reality. Having experienced the pitfalls of substance abuse in jails, homelessness, and recovery programs, Vincent has a deep understanding of the obstacles faced by those seeking sobriety and stability.
Vincent has spent his sober years crafting the vision for The Michael English House, Inc. In his recovery journey, he saw a need for pathways not only to sobriety but to success in all aspects of life for those in recovery.
Vincent's leadership and dedication embody Skilled Purpose's mission: to provide vision and opportunities that empower individuals to lead independent, purpose-driven lives.

Daniel Allen
Vice President & Co-founder
Daniel Allen is a dedicated and experienced carpenter with over 15 years of hands-on expertise in the construction industry, specializing in frame-to-finish projects. Daniel has built a reputation as a hardworking and dependable professional with an unwavering commitment to his craft. He holds an unrestricted Construction Supervisor’s License and has successfully managed and executed various residential housing construction projects, ensuring efficient timelines and top-quality results.
A true team player, Daniel is well-organized and brings an open-minded, growth-oriented approach to his work, consistently seeking opportunities to learn and improve. He has honed his skills working under some of the most prominent builders on Cape Cod, gaining valuable insights into all aspects of construction. He also contributes his expertise to Habitat for Humanity as a Construction Project Manager, providing stable housing for needy families. Raised in the Cape Cod area, Daniel has a deep connection to his community and a passion for giving back.
Having experienced the struggles of addiction and recovery in his family, Daniel co-founded The Michael English House, Inc. to address the challenges faced by individuals transitioning to sobriety and stability.
Daniel's professional expertise and passion for giving back align with Skilled Purpose's mission of helping to build pathways to independence and purpose for those in recovery.

Brian Sances
Director
Brian Sances is a well-known singer-songwriter and lifelong resident of Cape Cod. A winner of the 2024 New England Songwriting Competition, Brian has performed across the United States and parts of South America. He holds a certificate in Music Therapy and Sound Healing from Cape Cod Community College and is a professional sound engineer and performer.
In recovery since 2007, Brian has dedicated his life to serving others, drawing on his personal journey to uplift those in need. The loss of close friends to addiction and mental illness fuels his passion for creating positive change and being a beacon of hope in the Cape Cod community.
As a director and Head of Promotions and Social Media for The Michael English House, Brian is deeply committed to the organization’s mission of helping individuals overcome the challenges of addiction. His experience in public speaking and performing enables him to serve as a strong voice for the nonprofit, inspiring others to develop their skills and talents.
Through his work with organizations like Transition Centers of Cape Cod, where he provided music therapy for clients with mental disabilities, Brian has shown a deep commitment to improving lives.
As a director for The Michael English House, Brian continues to apply his dedication to helping others in his professional life to help individuals in recovery find purpose, resilience, and hope for a brighter future.

Joe Thorpe
Director
Joe Thorpe is a writing professional with extensive experience in journalism and creative content. He holds English and Writing Studies degrees from Cape Cod Community College and Bridgewater State University. Joe has worked as an editor and reporter for the newspapers The Main Sheet and The Comment, and as Editor-in-Chief for the literary-arts journals The Bridge (2023) and Sea Change (2017).
Joe has been sober and a member of the recovery community in Cape Cod since 2014. He was a close friend of Michael English and credits Michael with saving his life during a time when alcoholism had caused his life to spiral out of control.
Joining the Board of Directors for The Michael English House, Inc., allows Joe to use his professional skills and recovery journey in service of others.
Joe’s dedication to helping others mirrors the mission of Skilled Purpose, ensuring that individuals in recovery have the tools and support needed to achieve meaningful, sober lives.
