What is Skilled Purpose?
Skilled Purpose is a trades training program designed to empower individuals through a 'teach a man to fish' approach, equipping them with skills to achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Participants are trained by professional tradespersons in vocational occupations creating the means of earning a living wage, building confidence, and providing actionable steps to a meaningful life.
People overcoming substance dependency and transitioning to sobriety and life after jail or rehab often lack the resources for stability. They may have difficulty obtaining employment opportunities or a career earning a living wage. Their struggle to maintain the progress of recovery can lead them to fall back into unhealthy patterns that lead to relapse.
At the Michael English House, Inc., we are building relationships with local businesses to train participants and provide apprenticeships which support them in establishing stable lives. We aim to help people toward meaningful lives of independence and purpose, breaking the cycle of substance use.
We invite you to join us in building brighter futures by supporting Skilled Purpose.
